Visiting Magnolia Silos
With low expectations of seeing Chip and Joanne Gaines, we easily found the Silos along with hundreds of other eager Fixer Up fans. We’ve seen the Silos on the Internet and TV, but seeing is person it’s hard to imagine the vision the Gaines had of converting this old commercial grain operation into the current home furnishing store dedicated to all who love the shabby sheik theme. I was amazed at the progress to date with the retail store of all things Joanne and several large rooms of home furnishings. If you see the show, Chip is always entertaining with his shenanigans and I couldn’t help but laugh as we walked through this very large retail space only to find ten square feet dedicated as Chips Corner.
There are other spaces that have yet to be developed including the two giant grain silos, but they have created a large outdoor space with tables and the day we visited, there were at least 10 or more food trucks ranging in a very eclectic mix of food. A small garden is also located on the side of the property.
Ms. Joan had a great time looking at all the goodies. If this is a stop in your travels, plan to go during the week. It will still be very crowded, but at least you’ll have a better opportunity to find that special item to adorn your home when you return.
One last item. We’re always looking for a good place for lunch and love to experience local area restaurants. A couple blocks down from the Silos, you’ll find La Fiesta Restaurant & Cantina. We had great chicken enchiladas and super service.
