Stone Mountain Park Historic Square

If you’re seeking a journey through time, a visit to the Stone Mountain Park Historic Square is a must. Located in the center of Stone Mountain Park, this historic square offers a glimpse into the past. The Square contains a collections of building moved from a number of Georgia locations that were built between 1792 and 1875. Each building was moved and was carefully restored to much of it original state along with a collection of furnishing that were contained in the original house.

Located on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia, the Stone Mountain Park Historic Square is a unique destination for history enthusiasts, families, and curious minds alike. This well-preserved area offers a window into the past, taking visitors back in time for a glimpse of life as it was in the 1800’s.

The Historic Square within Stone Mountain Park showcases the evolution of Southern culture and architecture. From its humble beginnings, it has grown into a meticulously curated representation of the past. The square’s buildings, pathways, and decor all reflect the changing times and the merging of cultures that shaped the region.

  • Powell Academy Schoolhouse from Dekalb County, GA – Circa 1875

As we toured the Historic Square, it was as though we stepped into a time machine. I’m a huge fan of 1800 architecture and seeing the construction of each home was a testament to the craftsmanship of the past. Viewing each home, I had to admire the intricate details of furniture, textiles, and household items that were an part of daily life in bygone era.
