SetPower Models
SetPower has a number of 12 volt refrigerators that fit a wide range of RV travel needs. Models range from the:
- FC series at 13.5 quarts
- AJ series from 32 to 53 quarts
- TC series from 21 to 80 quarts
- RV series from 45 to 60 quarts that are include anti-shock and 30 degree angled operation
- X series at 50 quart that is battery operated.
SetPower 45 RV Dual Zone 12 Volt Refrigerator
We selected the SetPower 45 RV Dual Zone 12 Volt Refrigerator for our evaluation. Also included for our evaluation was a Fridge Slider to mount the unit in our 5th wheel storage bay and the insulated protective cover.
We found the SetPower 45 RV Dual Zone 12 Volt Refrigerator to be very well constructed offering dual zone cooling where the unit can be set as a single zone refrigerator or dual zone freezer / refrigerator. There are two modes of operation – Max for fast cooling and Eco mode for energy savings. The unit can operate up to a 30 degree angle and anti-shock making this perfect for moving RV that often travel on rough, uneven roads. We like the three battery protection modes available to protect battery levels depending on the needs for the road.
Two power options are available including the standard operations at 12V DC and a 120V AC to 12V DC power brick. The unit is very efficient in power usage required 60 watts during run time.
The capacity of the unit at 45 quarts is quite large. As an example, the design can handle 54 standard soft drink cans. That’s over two case!
SetPower Accessories
With the 12 volt refrigerator we also received the Fridge Slider to mount the unit in our 5th wheel storage bay and the insulated protective cover. The Fridge Slide was a welcomed addition that made the installation in our 5th wheel storage bay very simple. The slider is very well built with ball bearing slides and provided straps to secure the fridge. See the video below for the installation.
The protective cover adds another layer of insulation to the fridge as well as protects the unit for items that may move around in the storage bay during travel.
Results
The SetPower 45 RV Dual Zone 12 Volt Refrigerator is a great addition to our RV travels. We currently operating the fridge on 120V AC. We took our first trip to Florida and after 6 hours on the road without power, traveling on a hot August day, the items were still at 44 degrees. This is a good testament to insulated construction of the fridge and the addition of the benefits of the protective cover.
