RV Roadside Assistance

I Love RV Life - RV Roadside AssistanceDon’t think you need RV Roadside Assistance? On a recent trip to Florida we experience the dreaded 5th wheel blow out. It was catastrophic. Aside from the 5th wheel being disabled, the blowout destroyed the fenders, ripped the wiring from the signal lights and blew the hitch signal fuses in the truck (Note to reader – this one took a while to determine why the fifth wheel marker, turn signal and break lights didn’t work!!). It could have been much worse, but we were fortunate we were driving at a reasonable speed and able to pull over into a safe spot.

I Love RV Life - RV Roadside AssistanceWe were also fortunate to have subscribed to a RV roadside assistance program. Think this is an unnecessary expense? Not so! I can’t image hitting the road without a trusted RV roadside assistance service. Not all are the same. There are several developed specifically for RV travelers. Consider this first – Are they reasonably priced and do they have experience working with travelers with trailers, 5th wheels and motorized RVs? You don’t want to be on the side of the road with a blown tire and not having the proper equipment I love RV Life - RV Roadside Assistanceto raise thousands of pounds. You can damage your RV, bend axles, or worse harm yourself or others. Leave this to the professionals. They have the equipment to correctly repair your RV and get you back on the road. If you require a tow, they have experience with large rigs to minimize further damage. We use Good Sam Roadside Assistance. Fortunately we had a very positive experience both times we were stranded on the side of the road. There are companies who also offer similar services, so do your research and determine who can meet your specific needs.

I hope this is something you’ll never need in your travels. But, if you do, this will be one of the smallest expenses to ensure you have a safe trip if the unforeseen road hazard occurs.

As always, I love RV life, Jerry
