North Georgia Farm Stands, Honey and Fireworks
In our video, we also share a few short excepts from Leisure Acres Campground annual Freedom fest. This was a fun afternoon into the evening event with a powerful patriot theme along with one of the largest fireworks displays held in North Georgia.
Jaemor Farms
This was our first trip to Jaemor Farms and it did not disappoint. The farmers market is adjacent to one of the family farms a few miles north on Hwy 23 near Lula, GA. The farm has been in the family since 1912 growing fresh fruits and produce.
The stalls were loaded with all of our favorites along with an extensive selection of local jams, jellies, salsas, fresh bread and so much more. We cheated a little before we left and visited their cafe offering sandwiches, homemade fried pies and soft ice cream. Oh and the cheat – we had fried apple pie and peach ice cream for lunch.
Allison’s Honey & Vineyard
Allison’s Honey was another first and we thought this visit would be to satisfy our honey craving, but we also found an assortment of estate wines and mead.
We spent a few hours talking with our host about the wide assortment of delicious honeys, plus sampled there latest meads and wine. We did walk away with the standard wild flower and sour wood honeys, but my new favorite was mimosa honey.
The Tomato House
We have been visiting the Tomato House for sometime. Just a few miles from our annual visit at Leisure Acres Campground in Cleveland, GA, we affectionately refer to The Tomato House as Farmers Market eclectic.
Joan always has to stop outside first to investigate all of the mountain decorations for our porch and yard. Then as we walk inside we find a wide assortment of fresh produce and so much more. Our first stop is the wine area to see if we can find any deals on some of our favorite North Georgia wines, and yes we found the deals. Then its off to buy some of the unique jams, salsas, sauces and so much more. If we really want to treat ourselves, we visit the meat counter and have a thick steak cut from their hand select Iowa beef.
Freedom Fest at Leisure Acres Campground
For more than 10 years, John and Peggy Morris, the owners of Leisure Acres Campground have created a patriotic celebration that is held the week before the 4th of July. We were invited this year to attend where we provided a the video services for a Facebook live event on the Leisure Acres Campground Facebook page. We will include a link to the video in the Helpful Links below. The event includes a number of vendors offering various fanfare along with great food. Also, there is a wide assortment of inflatables for the kids.
The 5 hour celebration provided a mixture of single and group acts with contemporary Christian themed music and touching patriotic presentations including a tribute to all who served in the various branches of the military. The grand finally was one of the largest fireworks displays held in North Georgia. It was a great evening for the several thousands who attended.
I’ve provided links below for the places visited and the video from Leisure Acres Freedom Fest.
