LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery

by | Mar 11, 2023

Lithium-ion batteries have become increasingly popular for RV use due to their high energy density, long lifespan, and low maintenance requirements. Among these, the LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery is a particularly promising technology, offering exceptional performance in terms of safety, durability, and efficiency. We put the LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery through a real life test for 30 hours and had great results.

The LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery is a great choice for a wide range of applications including RV and marine power systems, off-grid solar power systems, and emergency backup power. The LiTime 300Ah 12V battery has an impressive capacity of 300Ah and during our test it provided reliable power for extended periods. This is particularly perfect for our RV trips when traveling long distances and for overnight stays when we have no campground power for our residential refrigerator, lighting, entertainment, and small 120V appliances.

Features and Benefits

LiTime Lithium Battery Specifications

High Energy Density

One of the primary advantages of the LiFePO4 battery technology is its high energy density, which means it can store more energy per unit volume or weight compared to traditional lead-acid batteries. The LiTime 12V 300Ah battery has a capacity of 300Ah, which translates to 3840Wh of energy, allowing you to power your devices for extended periods without needing to recharge.

Long Cycle Life

Another benefit of the LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery is its extended lifespan. While traditional lead-acid batteries may last for 3-5 years on average, LiFePO4 batteries can last up to 10 years or a recharge cycle rate of 4,000 times, depending on usage. This makes the battery a great long-term investment for those who require a reliable and durable power source.

Fast Charging and Discharging

The LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery features a high charging and discharging rate, up to 4 times faster than lead-acid, to charge or discharge the battery quickly and efficiently. This useful in where solar is used for recharging and and during peak demand periods.

Lightweight and Compact Design

Compared to lead-acid batteries of similar capacity, the LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery is significantly lighter and more compact, making them easier to transport and install. The battery weighs only 60lbs, making it a great choice for portable power applications.

Battery Cells and BMS

The LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery contains Prismatic cells with higher energy density, more stable performance, and greater power over lead-acid batteries. The battery has a built-in 200A BMS to protect the LiFePO4 Battery from overcharge, over-discharge, over current, and short circuit.

How We Tested

We prefer to test batteries in a real application versus a test bench and battery disassembly. While the latter is useful to verify specifications and overall construction, we want to know how a battery will perform for our RV travel needs.

We wanted to stress the battery with a 30 hour test to resemble a two day extended tow and overnight stay with no campground or solar charging. During our two day test, we had rain and overcast skies leaving us with no charging – a perfect test for the battery.

Our Montana 5th wheel has 7 – 120V AC outlets powered by the LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 lithium battery and a 2000W inverter in addition to general 12V DC lighting and mechanics. For the duration of the test we ran a large 3-door GE residential refrigerator, a small 12V portable refrigerator in our storage bay, small 120V appliances, 50″ 120V TV, and 12V lights. We broke the test into these three following steps:

  1. An 8-hour tow, retracting and extending slides, extending and retracting the awning, and running both refrigerators. At 4 hours, we turned on all lights for a 30 minute lunch break.
  2. Next was a stop overnight with no campground power. For 6-hours, we ran lights, 120V recliner theater seating, 50″ 120V TV, both refrigerators, extended slides, and lighting. Then lights and TV off for 10 hours with refrigerators operating. Next morning, lights on and made coffee and ran a toaster, both 120V appliances.
  3. Last part of the test as another 6-hour tow with both refrigerators running and slides in. At the end of the tow, slides out, and lights for set up.

At the end of two days of travel with no charging input and heavy usage, we still had 20% of the battery remaining. Then plugging into campground power, the batteries were charged in 4 hours by our 75A Progressive Dynamics charger.

We found the LiTime 12V 300Ah LiFePO4 Lithium Battery to be a very good solution for our RV power system. It’s BMS safety features, high energy density, and long lifespan makes it a better choice over traditional lead-acid batteries.

We appreciate LiTime providing the battery for our review. See the links below the video for more information on the wide range of LiTime lithium batteries.
