It’s Fall, It’s North Georgia, It’s So Much Fun
Leisure Acres Campground
John and Peggy Morris, the owners of Leisure Acres Campground, have created a location that caters to families. A wide variety of back-in and pull-thorough sites will fit virtually any size RV. All sites are 30/50 amp, water and sewer. Reasonable Wi-Fi is available for casual use along with a very nice bath house and laundry facility, pool during the warmer months, and a catch and release pond that is fun for the adults and kids alike. Since we spend most of our time on the southern end of the mountain range, the campground is in an ideal location.
North Georgia Vineyards
There is a growing number of North Georgia Vineyards that exist throughout the foothills. The soil and elevation for this region, produces a wide range of dry, semi-dry and sweeter wines that will satisfy the tastes for both the casual to those who search for award winning wines. Aside from great wine, each vineyard is unique both in location, tasting room, outdoor venues, and some offer weekend entertainment, cafes or restaurant, spas, lodging and more.
During the first part of our visit, we returned to some of our favorites, The Cottage Vineyards and Winery, Cavender Creek Vineyards, and Serenity Cellars for starters during our first week. Year after year, there is familiarity with the wines produced, but the seasonal influences on the grapes always make the return each year very unique.
Dahlonega, GA
When Joan and I are in Dahlonega, we often return for a walk through town, stop in some of the unique shops or a visit to many of the restaurants or cafes. But shopping, food and wine tasting rooms isn’t all there is to be found. This was the center of Georgia’s gold rush in the 1800’s. A trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Gold Museum located old Court House in the center of town or even more fun, a tour of the Consolidated Gold Mine and panning for gold at the end of the tour.
This is week one of our North Georgia stop. There’s much more planned over the next couple of weeks.
