Gem Panning in North Georgia
I went to Gold n Gem Grubbin, just a few minutes outside of Cleveland, GA. This is a great set up with a number of different options. You can take the easy route, purchasing a bucket of dirt and use the toughs next to the office. Here you stay relatively dry as you screen and wash the dirt for gems. I ran into a group that had very good success with this option.
I on the other hand wanted to “get up to my elbows” panning for gems. $15 and 4 hours, you can go to any of the 3 locations and pan (a.k.a. grub) for gems in the creek. So much fun. I had no clue how grub, but in short order had a simple process of screening dirt, panning and finding some pretty gems. At the end of the video you see the hand full of semi-precious stones I found. Above all, I had a blast!
Now I can’t wait to return home, polish the stones and try my hand at making some jewelry for the girls.
