E-bike Tour Around Daytona Beach
It was a beautiful late March day in Daytona Beach. This was a perfect time for our new Hovsco and taking an e-bike tour around Daytona Beach. We’ve found Daytona Beach to be very bike friendly with bike paths, designated bike lanes along most of the roads, and large well maintained sidewalks. The bridges also have extra wide lanes for bikes and pedestrians making it very easy to navigate the area.
Hovsco E-Bike
We wanted to see how well the e-bike would:
- Navigate the extra tall bridges in the area.
- Take the strain off the rider.
- Travel on a single charge.
The e-bike has 5 levels that can be set to assist in pedaling. Hovsco reports the e-bike is capable of reaching a distance of 60 miles using the level 1 pedal assist setting. We road a 22 mile loop and only used one bar of power.
Our Daytona Beach E-Tour Route
As far as distance and difficulty, we purposely didn’t choose the easiest route. We had to navigate two bridges across the Halifax River and both had very high arches supporting boat traffic. The e-bike removed virtually all of the effort required for the steep up hill climbs.
We found the roads to be very friendly for riding bikes. Most had designated bike lanes, wide sidewalks, or both. Busy road intersections were easy to cross with electronic buttons to stop traffic.
We stopped at a number of parks along the way. The area of Daytona Beach, South Dayton, Daytona Beach Shores and Ponce Inlet have a number of bike friendly parks with trails that are both easy to navigate and scenic. We stopped at several of the inland parks, but all of the parks along the beach were closed for repairs due to the damage caused by Hurricane Ian. Work was underway and I hope to see these parks reopened soon. We also road along the beach and we’re surprised to see a number of other e-bike riders enjoying this warn March day.
From Start To Finish
The tour from start to finish took us three and a half hours. I was very surprised of the little fatigue felt from the long ride. It was great getting out, meeting other riders along the way, and enjoying the views at the beach. I’m looking forward to our return and finding other routes to experience for our next e-bike tour around Daytona Beach.
